Bullitt County is heavily impacted by the Salt River. Low lying areas immediately adjacent are known as Flood Plains. In order to minimize loss of life and destruction of property, development in Flood Plain areas is subject to further restrictions pursuant to Bullitt County Ordinance #16-05. These requirements have been established to meet the requirements of the National Flood Insurance program in which Bullitt County voluntarily participates. This participation gives citizens in the Unincorporated Area the opportunity to purchase Flood Insurance protection for their property.
